Banana stem fry/Vaalai thandu poriyal in kuchinigirls


Ingredients:

Banana stem - 200g
Oil - 1 Teaspoon
Mustard - 1/4 teaspoon
Urid dal - 1/4 teaspoon
Dry chilies - 2 or 3
Curry leaves - 1 strand
Grated coconut - 4 Teaspoon

Method:

> Take the thick skin of the banana stem
> And take that soft skin of the stem by knife 
> Cut the vegetable into a round shape
> Inbetween you can find the thread, just remove it by fingers.    
> Then chop the veg into small pieces. and put it in the water
> just roll it by using a knife or spoon. you can find the remaining threads in the knife. just remove it.
> Then drain the water and keep it aside
> In a pan add oil and once oil heated add mustard.
> Once mustard splutters add urad dal.curry leaves and dry chilies.
> Then add the chopped stem and mix well.do not add any extra water.
> Add salt and cover the pan by lid.let it cooks for 7 or more min.
> Once it boiled well add grated coconut. Mix well.
> Switch off the flame.
> Plantain fry is ready.
> Serve hot with rice for lunch.

Note:
> Banana stem is good for health
> Taking often this vegetable will avoid kidney stone problems.
> Once you start chopping it will turn into brown color.nothing to worry.it has lots of iron like apple and brinjal.
